Pet Consultation & Examination
Pet Consultation & Examination
Annual physical examinations are crucial to the health and well-being of our pets.
This is particularly true given that cats and dogs age at a rate much faster than we do – just one year could be the equivalent of 5 to 8 years in your pet!
It is for this reason that we have structured 30 minute appointments which gives the veterinarian the opportunity to thoroughly examine your pet, from head to toe! We never want you to feel that a consultation is rushed, which is why we scheduled adequate time to answer all of your questions, including anything from nutrition to behaviour. We know you have a busy life schedule, and are therefore dedicated to minimizing wait times, and doing everything in our power to stay on time.
Just like us, a physical examination includes a thorough auscultation of the chest with a stethoscope, listening to the heart of lungs. A detailed look on the surface and interior of the eye is performed to detect abnormalities such as ulcers or glaucoma. An otoscope is used to examine the ear canal for signs of infection, redness or swelling. Finally, a detailed inspection of the entire body, from bones, to lymph nodes, to the abdomen is performed. Sometimes, routine blood tests may be recommended as a part of our early detection program. Early detection of illness and disease is paramount to preventing serious health issues requiring expensive hospitalization, and more importantly will prolong the time we have we our beloved pets.
As you would have noticed, our pets age significantly faster than we humans, and one year of our life, can be the equivalent of about 8 years for our pets. Therefore it is important for the health and well being of our canines to get an annual physical examination done by your Brampton vet.
